The best
Winter activities
EVERYTHING BUT SKIING!
The Arlberg offers a variety of winter activities for young and old away from the ski pistes. You will be amazed by everything there is to discover in our magnificent surroundings. We hope you have fun!
Cross-Country Skiing
The over 40-kilometre-long trail-network has countless leisurely and athletic options, and offers a lot of variety. With the exception of the first two kilometres of the Stanzertal cross-country ski slope, all trails are groomed for the classic cross-country skiing style and skating (free technique).
Horse-drawn carriage rides
A special highlight for discovering the deep snow-covered Verwalltal valley and peace on holiday, is a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride. The jingling bells of the harnessed horses and light snow fall will certainly enchant young and old.
Tobogganing
Look forwards all kinds of family fun when tobogganing in St. Anton. The 4.3 km-long natural toboggan ride boasts an approximately 15 minute descent full of bends into the valley. The toboggan run is open daily from 12pm - 4pm in winter. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the descent is illuminated for the toboggan evenings, the last ascent in the Gampenbahn is at 9.30pm for brave toboggan enthusiasts.
Toboggans can be rented at all sport sports and also at the Hotel Pettneuerhof.
Ice-skating and curling
Whether skating with the kids or enjoying a round of curling on a pleasant evening, the ice skating rink in the middle of St. Anton provides visible variety to alpine skiing.
Winter and
Snowshoe Hiking
Our holiday region boasts a total of 80 kilometres of signposted winter hiking trails in the St. Anton, Pettneu and the Stanzertal. For example, you can stroll through the crunchy snow from the Hotel Pettneuerhof to the Gasthof Almfrieden above Pettneu. The dreamlike Verwalltal also invites you to hike to the Wagner Hütte.
Therapeutic snow shoe hikes through snow-covered landscapes are best when accompanied by a trained guide. This way, the peace and fairytale-like winter scenery can be enjoyed in a relaxing way.
